coming weeks we make a tour along the french and spanish west coast, like we(my wife and I ) did since 1996visiting old friends and counting Spoonbills seperated(juvs and ad.apart) in order to get some insight in the reproduction

Group of people interrested in Spoonbills and assiociated waterbirds and their natural habitats coöperate and share their knowledge and experienceThis group was fondend in 2022 by Otto Overdijk (NL) and is expanded with people from UK France,Germany, Swiss, Spain ,Belarus Russia, Moldavia, FY, Turkey ,Greece,others will follow.

We also manage a colourring databases containing spoonbills ringed in NL, B. D.DK, Hungary, Greece,Croatia, czech-rep. Serbia, Turkiye, Uzbekistan,Iran Mauritania, Morocco, Portugal,France.

many birds with transmitter die early, no bird live longer then 2 months techics are not very good and need improvements,especially the maner to attach the transmitter on the bird this is in many ocaissons wrongly attached see picture here above.juvenils with transmitter do not become to an age of being adult (4y.)scientist want to ad new functions to transmitters but for every new function capacity of power is needed. Batteries need therefore to expand which is not better (they become higher weight) for survival of the bird.also in 2025 many birds drop dead after short periode of running propperly this development is an concern not only in the netherlands also in Japan-Korea
